Falling in cold water or have you been in hot water?

Last Monday, the Red Hot Chilli Paddlers came back together as a Dragon Boat team for the 2010 season.  The leader of the team, Clinton, and now a trained coach, and seasoned paddler / steer shared some info on cold water survival.

Lots of great info, the key is to not fall into Cold Water !!!!    My one take away was the 1 / 10 / 1 info.   Once you fall in, take 1 minute to stabilize your breathing, then you have 10 minutes to do something, hopefully something that gets you out of the cold water, then the last minute is where your body stops functioning and the beginning of hypothermy starts.   Now if you are wearing a PFD and in the right position, you have up to 1 hour to be rescued.
