SuperTramp and Roger Hodgson inspiration Logical

Watch it, or Read it, Roger Hodgson has incredible words for us.

When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful,
a miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well they’d be singing so happily,
joyfully, playfully watching me.
But then they send me away to teach me how to be sensible,
logical, responsible, practical.
And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable,
clinical, intellectual, cynical.

There are times when all the world’s asleep,
the questions run too deep
for such a simple man.
Won’t you please, please tell me what we’ve learned
I know it sounds absurd
but please tell me who I am.

Now watch what you say or they’ll be calling you a radical,
liberal, fanatical, criminal.
Won’t you sign up your name, we’d like to feel you’re
acceptable, respecable, presentable, a vegtable!

At night, when all the world’s asleep,
the questions run so deep
for such a simple man.
Won’t you please, please tell me what we’ve learned
I know it sounds absurd
but please tell me who I am.

I think for one it shouldn’t be called Supertramp Inspiration considering that Roger Hodgson wrote the song. So it’s his original composition and it feels like he should get the credit for the inspiration and the Logic. Second of all it’s a classic masterpiece that I think speaks the hearts of many who have felt the same way about what happens in life to all of us. That is what makes Roger such a great artist in his own right and so loved by his fans. He becomes our voices that couldn’t find the words to speak what we were feeling as we were growing up during that time. Thanks Roger for Logical Song and so many other fantastic hits that we all relate to and remember. Check out these links and enjoy Roger’s timeless music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vdDkiXjiW4

Thanks for your insights and I have updated the Post title with Rogers name. Also that is the neat part about music is the ability to touch our hearts especially in times when they appear to be hardened to other forms of human communication.

I Love Roger’s music – deep messages and lots of heart. Roger is a musician with heart, passion and talent. Hodgson’s passion for his art is experienced first hand in his shows, I’ve seen people crying, laughing and hugging the stranger next to them. if you haven’t been to a roger show, go. He is touring throughout Canada and europe for his 2010 world tour. His voice is better now live then when he recorded in studios 30 years ago. He will be in Quebec July 4th and i will be going to listen Roger play the “soundtrack of my life”.

For fans wanting latest ST and Roger Hodgson news from the world of tour:
Unscrupulous-Tramp: After receiving thousands of letters from fans that go to a Supertramp show to find out Roger Hodgson and his trademark voice isn’t part of the show, Roger is speaking up to say, it’s not okay to mislead and manipulate my fans. Thankfully, ‘The Logical Song’, ‘Dreamer’, ‘Breakfast in America’, ‘It’s Raining Again’, and ‘Give a Little Bit’ are Roger Hodgson songs that can be heard on Roger’s 2010 world tour. Go to Rogerhodgson.com for tour schedule. and check this out: Logical Song by songwriter Roger Hodgson OR Supertramp without Roger Hodgson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnGXgEgiYy4
