History or “T”history

I had the thought this weekend while walking along a road by Shuswap Lake, BC.  We each have lots of history, like walking down a road, swimming in lake, meeting a person or going to a new city.  But what if we considered in this minute that we were writing “T”history.   “This Story” where the T stands for Time Sensitive?

There was a first today, my 12 year old son Mitch got out of the water on a slalom water ski.   And he felt comfortable and stable to ski for a good kilometer.   Very exciting.  A bit of “This Story”, a bit of history.   I’m sure we can all remember some of our firsts…   first time waterskiiing, snowskiing, a cool hotel, being in Montreal, putting our face in the salty ocean water.   Many firsts.

What i’m trying to get at in this post, is as the sun comes up we have time sensitve, important commitmnts that we need to take care of.  It struck me that as we interact with our family, our friends, our coworkers our customers we create “T”history all the time.  We are constantly having to use our ability to discern between two activities and determine which is more important at the time.   And as we do this, the story unfolds.   We move forward and take forks in the road.   Life is far from a straightline where we make a few decisions and off we go.   Especially the case if we explore different cities and meet people from different “Tribes”  (Seth Godin book reference)

More on Tribes.

Great Quote from Carl Sagan

“Anything else you’re interested in is not going to happen if you can’t breathe the air and drink the water. Don’t sit this one out. Do something. You are by accident of fate alive at an absolutely critical moment in the history of this planet.”   –Carl Sagan

A great fathers day weekend: KGM Bikethon

Mitch, my 12 year old son, started the Father’s Day weekend out in a very special way.   We rode together on the Kelowna Gospel Mission 30 km Bikeathon.    We finished together and were part of the highest donation team FormaShape and Mitch won for highest fund raising youth and due to incredible support from those who know me and the few emails the event recognized me for top fundraiser.

Way to go Barb, Matthew, Audrey, Peggy and Mitch !!!!

What a great start to the fathers day weekend.    The river was flowing, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping and the company along the trail was spectacular.   The other corporate Teams from Kelowna Flight Craft created by Mike Rowley, people like Brent King and Craig Burns, the wonderful team from FormaShape, Barb, Audrey, Matthew, Peggy, Mitch.

Very fun…   and special thanks to all those who donated to the incredible Kelowna Gospel Mission cause for transitional housing.

“Over 100 cyclists laced their way through the Mission Park Greenway Saturday, raising donations for the purchase of a men’s transition home.

The 30K Club Bikeathon, which is in it’s third year, has previously raised money for three other local recovery and transition homes.

Started by the Kelowna Gospel Mission, the 30K club currently operates the Shiloh House, Harmony Home and Destiny House.

Ami Catriona, Kelowna Gospel Mission marketing and communications officer, says last year alone, 165 men and women were able to access proper affordable housing.

“It’s really important that when people are going through a rough patch, they have a stable home. It’s your fundamentals,” Catriona says.

“You’ve got to start with a roof over your head.”

The Life goes on….

After a busy week with many new balls to juggle, this classic Beatles song was on the radio…   very inspirational…

Desmond has his barrow in the market place…
Molly is the singer in a band…
Desmond says to Molly “Girl, I like your face”
And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on.

Desmond takes a trolley to the jewelry store…
Buys a twenty carat golden ring…
Takes it back to Molly waiting at the door…
And as he gives it to her she begins to sing…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on.

In a couple of years they have built a home sweet home,
With a couple of kids running in the yard,
Of Desmond and Molly Jones… (Ha ha ha ha ha)

Happy ever after in the market place…
Desmond lets the children lend a hand…
Molly stays at home and does her pretty face…
And in the evening she still sings it with the band…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on.
